Huaraz is a city in central Peru. It has a population of approximately 100,000 and is the capital of the region of Ancash. Huaraz is at an altitude of 3100 m in the Andes, some 450 km north of Lima.

The city itself is not very special. Most of it was destroyed in the earthquake of 1970. But it is a good destination for the day and ideal for climbers. The layoff of the Cordillera Blanca is great. Located in a valley called the Callejon de Huaylas.

Huaraz is located in agriculture important Callejón de Huaylas valley, at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera, including Huascaran, the highest mountain in Peru at 6768 meters in the Huascaran National Park is a popular destination for tourism and hiking and Huaraz is a frequent expeditions to the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash. Tourists often come from Germany, Greece, France, Italy, Argentina, United Kingdom and the United States.
