Urubamba is the name of a town and a river and I chose as the basis for this report not only gave his name to the river, but both are the road to Cuzco, came through one of the wonderful sites described in my report of Cuzco and the other through a Chinchero absolutely superb views.
Urubamba is located near the Vilcanota River (also known as the Rio Urubamba). The Sacred Valley and Urubamba-tion is used to describe the valley that stretches from east of Pisac to Ollantaytambo at the western end of the valley.
Urubamba is home to the Andean Community Kusiwasi, using dance and drama to revive the traditions and the Andean culture. Kusiwasi, which means “House of Joy” in Quechua, was formed by Debora Correa, a member of the company based in Lima Yuyachkani.
There are many attractions of the valley, including at least one full day and, at best, two days (well distributed on the day of the week) is worth the expense. It is also a day with the night and will return to Machu Picchu.
