Tibet Autonomous Region is located in south-west China and the Qinghai-Plateau du Tibet. It is bordered to the north of the Uighur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang and Qinghai province, east of Sichuan Province, south-east of Yunnan province, south and west by the following countries: Burma, India, Bhutan, Sikkim and Nepal.

Tibet Autonomous Region is huge, with an area of approximately 1.2 million square kilometers, which, by comparison, more or less equally to all regions of France, Germany, United Kingdom and Luxembourg. Tibet Autonomous Region is the second in size of the Xijiang Uygur Autonomous Region, among all provinces in China. With an average altitude of 4,000 meters, Tibet Autonomous Region has a complex topography and is divided into three geographic regions: west, south and east. The western part, known as the North Tibet Plateau is located between the Kunlun Mountains and Kangdese mountain and mountain Tonglha mountain and Nyainqentanglha. This part covers the 2 / 3 of the total area of Tibet. The north is mostly uninhabited. The southern part of Tibet is composed of valleys and mountain ranges of the Himalayas and Kangdese. Tibet is probably one of the last virgin land of the world. Despite the influx of tourists in recent years, Tibet is the natural environment has remained largely intact.
