Chiclayo is located in northern Peru. The city has a population of about 634,600 while the metropolitan area is approximately 910,255. Chiclayo was founded in 1560 as a rural Indian village by a Spanish priest. Until the 19th century, Chiclayo remained a small city compared to the nearby city of Lambayeque. However, the city of Chiclayo has become a major modern metropolis. Peru is the fourth largest city.

Chiclayo is a city in Peru where the tropical sun, desert oases and the fresh sea breeze come together. According to legend, the god Naylamp sailed here with a huge procession of thousands of years to build his empire. In fact, many ancient civilizations have the strategic advantage of controlling this region, which is today a major business center in northern Peru, where routes come together from the coast, the sierra and the jungle
The city of Chiclayo is known for its archaeological sites, as Túcume, Batan Grande and Huaca Rajada. In 1987, Huaca Rajada (more often than Sipan), a Moche mausoleum was found. The most important was the discovery of the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, which archaeologists have concluded was a leader of more than 1600 years.
